The Song Machine
Many times I just buy people’s work just to buy people’s work to support but to my surprise, The Song Machine easily became one of my absolute favorite books!
The other night I was having a conversation with…well I’m not sure if I want to tell you just yet but let’s just say when it comes to exceptionally intelligent people…they are definitely in my top 20. For some reason, we started talking about people being taken advantage of. I thought to myself like why isn’t that a big problem for me? It’s probably because I studied and been around the game.
Our conversation reminded me of John Seabrook book “The Song Machine”…Man, that book was soo good. It gave me a break from the Hip-Hop elements and gave me a dope inside look of what was going on with Artists like New Kids on the Block, (I think he briefly mention New Edition) Backstreet Boys, N’sync, Britney Spears, Rihana, Kesha, Neyo and the some of the songwriters and producers for their records. John talks about Lou Pearlman and how he why he got interested in managing artists and how he started taking advantage of them, committing fraud and doing some other crazy stuff. It was sooo interesting and soo good!! Man what I learned from that…smh that book was soo ill and def worth it. I definitely recommend you guys reading this book too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TIZFO2W/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
